Barbara Dutton

Barbara is a highly experienced Ofsted inspector and, since 2005, regularly inspects primary and secondary schools/academies, special and independent schools. She is a qualified teacher and taught English for over 25 years across the full secondary range. She has held various curriculum and senior management roles in schools, including deputy headteacher of a large secondary school in the North West.

Following this, Barbara worked as a Teaching and Learning Consultant with the National Strategies for three years. She became Senior Adviser and accredited School Improvement Partner for primary and secondary schools with a North West local authority. More recently, as Head of School Improvement until April 2017, she had overall responsibility and accountability for supporting and challenging the performance of all schools/academies. She has over 15 years’ experience as a local authority senior school improvement officer, including brokering and commissioning support to schools and attending/advising governing body meetings.

Barbara is currently governor at a secondary school. She is a highly experienced trainer and has regularly delivered training for local authorities, whole school training to senior leaders, teachers and governors.

She has a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and Management.
