Janis Maloney has over 30 years’ employee relations and HR experience in local government. She worked in a schools traded HR service from 2004-2015 and managed the delivery of that service as the senior Schools’ HR professional for Cheshire West and Chester (CWAC) from 2009-2015. Under her leadership, the service retained business from the whole of the maintained sector in CWAC and the majority of academy schools, including two academy trusts. The service adapted to meet the needs and aspirations of all categories of schools.
Janis is qualified to Fellowship level of the CIPD – having gained Fellowship in 1998. She is also an accredited and experienced Safer Recruitment trainer.
Janis served as a Foundation Governor in a RC voluntary aided primary school for 12 years, chairing the staffing/personnel committee.
She has spoken at many governor events and spent many years supporting headteachers and chairs of governors on the most complex HR issues. She also advised the head of the schools service on issues involving the Council as residual employer and school improvement issues.
Janis is an experienced trainer, having regularly designed and delivered sessions on HR issues for school leaders including governors since 2004. Having left local authority employment she is keen to use her experience to contribute to stronger school governance across the region.
